[3rd Year] Group Film Project - Designs and Storyboards

DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMP of stuffs from Group Film Project!
Color concepts. Have to say, I'm not really good with colors. And I avoid CG because it takes a long time since I suck at it.

I don't know why but traditional watercolor soothes me... it's like a warm cup of hot chocolate.

Color study for our character
Character's costume breakdown. I like to do little petty useless things.
Character designs

My portion of rough storyboards. These are from take #2.

These are from take #1.

We're still working on the story... uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh why is simplicity soooooooooooooooo hard to achieve -_-

[3rd Year] Action Analysis - Rough Character

My action analysis is a 30 second story with 5 second rendered animation in the middle.
My story kind of got drifted from the original one that I thought of since I needed to satisfy the assignment requirements. It's now a bit... cruel in some sense. The story is about two dokebis playing around with their magic clubs, hitting and transforming things. They're going to hit a rabbit in one point and is going to turn into a tiger. The tiger shoots the dokebi away with its roar.
I'll probably go through colour test on these guys soon :)

[2nd Year] Character Design #6 - Sequence

6 sequential drawings when the character (previously designed) sneaks and does something that he/she is not supposed to do, shows glee but gets caught by an onlooker and feels guilty at the end.
Read from Left to Right: upper left -> lower middle -> upper right (in case of confusion).

Wow... I just wandered around few of sheridan people's blogs and man... I feel so... BAD! *goes to the corner and cries*
I guess I'm the only one who feels very unmotivated right now... Really, I don't feel like animating! I feel like going outside and playing with soccer ball! Or sleeping.
Maybe I'm not born to animate everyday like some people *sighs*
Hopefully, the summer can help me renew my passion. I'm looking forward to this summer but I'm also extremely unsecure at the same time. It feels like everyone is getting an intern, everyone is creating great demo reel and here am I, writing useless shits in my blog. (Actually, I don't want to write my essay right now) It feels like I'm being chased.
I'm trying to calm my self down, saying to myself that I'm just a second year right now (going to third year, yeah that helps alot) and I will get better as I live on but damn this competitive mind. Someday I'll die because of this perfectionism.

[2nd Year] Character Design #4- Muzzle and Beak

These... are my infamous (well, at least for me) animal characters with muzzle and beak. Not only did I get a bad mark (a.k.a the asian fail) for this assignment, somehow I couldn't come out with good enough ideas. Still don't know why. It will remain as one of my life's mysteries forever.
Just to not confuse you, this assignment was done before the 4 character designs.

Well, at least now I know where I want to go. I really want to concentrate on character design. And I guess animation and storyboard. Those three things are the subjects that I really enjoy and I wouldn't mind doing them for my life.

[2nd Year] Character Design #9 - 4 Different Character Archetypes (Sketches II)

I found some more character design sketches so I decided to post them up.
^ The usual thought process in my head

^ One of the early sketches of Matt: lean, built, well-fed, full of justice and amazingly stereotypical.

^ The early line-up

^ The later line-up. Now when I look at it, nothing big changed in my designs. I can see that I played around with some of the body shapes but still. I guess I was pretty confident with my instinct this time haha.

[2nd Year] Character Design #5- 4 Different Character Archetypes (Sketches)

These are some of the studies and sketches I've done before finalizing the designs.

Well, to tell the truth I really didn't need that much research for this assignment. I mean, when I saw 'Medieval Times', I was like "FINALLY! MY WORLD HAS COME!"...

I was seriously obsessed with Medieval times for about 3 years. And you know what that means. I still have the references with me. They are about a phonebook thick haha.

Expression sketches. I used some of them in the final pages.

^ This guy is an extra that I just came out for fun. King Richard the Lionheart! Brave, passionate, wild and justful but a bit dirty?

Now, costume studies done from books and photos.

Other early sketches

^ Almost finalized Guilden

^ Finalizing Matt

^ The earliest Matt. Looks too weird!

^ Early Matt and Guilden

^ Early Matt and Guilden 2

^ Early Ahmud. A bit older than final one.

^ Just coming up with various situations. You can actually see one of my character's death here.

^ Early Guilden

^ Early evil merchant

^ Early Guilden 2. He uses a wooden stick instead of a longbow in the final design.

^ Quite finalized merchant

^ Almost finalized merchant. Just needed to make him more 'square'.

^ Merchant's knight bodyguards. I like that design with eyes only showing underneath a dark helmet.

^ Finalized Guilden
